NOW THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30TH:
JOIN US IN COLLECTING SHOES FOR LOCAL CHILDREN.
Step Up for Kids is a shoe drive that will provide shoes to impoverished youth in our Metro Detroit communities.

All shoes collected at Gordon Chevrolet will be distributed to low-income and homeless youth in Southeast Michigan. All kids deserve to start the school year feeling prepared and confident. For all that the academic and social year brings, this can be a challenge for every child. For those facing poverty, the challenge is even greater.

Did you know that worn shoes are one of the first outward indicators of poverty? And teachers oftentimes spend their own hard-earned money on shoes for kids in their classes.

New, well-fitting shoes not only allow impoverished kids to look indistinguishable from their peers but also allow them to fully engage in all school activities. They can comfortably participate in gym class or after-school sports teams without feeling self-conscious or insecure. This shoe drive is about providing kids with a tool in their toolbox for confidence and success. It is about helping them feel equal.

Here is how you can help.

SHOES THAT WE CAN COLLECT
Bring your shoe donation to our showroom now through September 30th, 2023. A few things to keep in mind when choosing shoes to donate:

  • All shoes must be new.
  • We are collecting shoes for kids ages 4-18 or youth size 11 through adult size 11.
  • Sneakers are the top choice, but shoes of any kind will be appreciated.
  • Desirable name brands like: Nike, Adidas, Converse, Vans, and Under Armour.
