Truckloads of Hope

Gordon Chevrolet is proud to support the Capuchin Soup Kitchen with our Truckloads of Hope donation drive. We are collecting items specifically for their Shower Program which helps give a little dignity back to those who don’t have access to running water.

A shower is something that may be taken for granted, but the reality is that there are thousands of people right here in Detroit who don’t have that luxury. Therefore, we are collecting toiletries and toilet paper, as well as household items like laundry detergent, sheets and blankets.

  • Sheets (full & twin size)
  • Blankets (full & twin size)
  • Laundry detergent (42oz or 64oz)
  • Deodorant
  • Toilet Paper
  • Dryer Sheets
  • Dish Soap
  • Hand Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Baby wipes
  • Dental floss
  • Socks
  • Underwear- mainly men’s, sizes M to 2XL
The Capuchin Soup Kitchen plans to extend their current temporary shower and laundry facilities for guests at both of its meal program sites, located at 1264 Meldrum Street and at 4390 Conner Street in Detroit. The Soup Kitchen at Meldrum will eventually have a new permanent shower facility, separate from the offices and meal hall, to allow greater privacy and dignity for guests. The Conner site will be expanded with a dedicated shower facility with private shower stalls and changing areas to serve guests and close the gap created by a nearby social services agency’s shut-down. Both locations will also include space for a laundry facility where guests can wash and dry their clothes at no cost.
